Power BI Weekly Issue 98: 23rd February 2021

In the past week, Microsoft has again been named a Leader in the 2021 Gartner Magic Quadrant for Analytics and BI Platforms, which will probably not come as a surprise to any of you reading this newsletter. But well done to the team nonetheless - maintaining the stronghold in this space is no easy feat. Arun Ulag has also written a blog Data insights without limit, security without compromise, which highlights how Power BI handles your data from a security perpective, talks about upcoming features, and shares a new whitepaper to deep dive into the specifics. Do take a look.

Elsewhere this week, we've been told from the Power BI team that the .NET Core support for Analysis Services client libraries is GA, supporting both .NET Core 3.1 and .NET 5, and the SQLBI team has created a new website: DAX.do, which can act as a playground to help you improve your DAX code. It's free, public, and comes preconfigured to a sample Contoso Database - all you need to do is start writing queries against the model! Great work from the team.

Finally, Miguel Escobar has open-sourced a great Power BI REST API Connector which you can just install and start using straight-away, and Chandeep Chhabra has described how you can use Calculation Groups to Use Measures in the Columns of a Matrix Visual - a neat workaround.
