Power BI Weekly

Issue #96 - 9th February 2021

A feature I highlighted on the release plan last week is now available in preview, and that's Power BI Embedded Generation 2. Note that you can't currently upgrade Gen1 capacities to Gen2, but that will be automatic upon GA (estimated in July). Keeping on the Embedded theme, Adam Saxton has shared the New Contoso Sample app for Power BI Embedded, showcasing many of the alluring cutomisation features of Power BI Embedded, written in React & Typscript on the client side and C# (.NET 5) on the server side. A great starting-point for your Embedded apps.

Elsewhere this week, the Power BI team has written a comprehensive set of Best practice rules to improve your model's performance, all the way from DAX Expressions to naming conventions. Meagan Longoria has described how to grant ADLS Gen2 Access for Power BI Users via ACLs, and Chris Webb has continued his series on importing data from ADLS Gen2, writing about The Performance Of Importing Data From ADLSgen2 Common Data Model Folders In Power BI.
