Power BI Weekly Issue 88: 8th December 2020
It's been a big week for Microsoft - Azure Synapse Analytics is now GA, and a new data governance service called Azure Purview (AKA Azure Data Catalog Gen2) is now in public preview. Read about how Power BI is complemented by Azure services, particular Synapse, and see how Power BI integrates with Azure Purview to achieve better data governance and discovery. All very exciting stuff!
Alongside those announcements this week, we've also been told that Power BI Admins can now upgrade classic workspaces (previously only possible by workspace admins), and there's a new capability to Automate the configuration of a template app installation to make things even easier for the end user.
Elsewhere this week, I've written about How to update credentials for an on-prem Power BI data source using PowerShell (which can be a little tricky, as one has to encrypt the credentials using the RSA-OAEP algorithm), and Alex Barnett has described How to create an advanced filter experience for users, using some slick DAX to achieve some AND/OR/NOT logic to provide extra flexibility for the report consumers.
