Power BI Weekly

Issue #78 - 29th September 2020

Wow - what a week. How did everyone find Ignite? Sooo many exciting announcements. If you haven't already, you should take a look at the Driving a data culture in a world of remote everything blog by Arun Ulag, which provides a summary of the announcements. A few of them worthy of stand-alone articles, including the new Power BI Premium per user license (a personal favourite of mine, lowering the barrier to entry of Premium features), the New Power BI experiences in Microsoft Teams, the Smart Narrative visual (providing a smart, textual summary of insights on the page), Power BI for HoloLens 2, and the deployment pipelines General Availability (GA).

And if that's not enough, we've been given the Power BI September 2020 Feature Summary including changes to the lineage view in the Service, data-point rectangle select on more visuals, workspace search during pbix publishing, amongst other updates. Not only that, but we've been given the On-premises data gateway September 2020 update and been given more details about the the Upcoming Evolution of Power BI Premium to enterprise markets and beyond.

Finally, if you can't get enough of conferences, it's SQLBits week this week, and many of us at endjin are presenting, primarily talking about all-things data and Azure. There's still time to sign-up if you're interested - it will definitely be worth it!
