Power BI Weekly

Issue #50 - 17th March 2020

Woah - 50 editions. Big milestone, and in a couple of editions' time, it'll be a whole year's worth! So much great Power BI content - thank you everyone for interacting with this newsletter in one way or another.

What better way to mark the 50th edition but with the new Power BI Desktop (March 2020) Feature Summary, where we've been told about new action types for buttons, multi-column sort in tables, and many other updates. Also announced was the new, revamped search experience in the Power BI service, making it that little bit easier to find the content you're after.

Other updates this week (from the Azure side) consist of the reminder to Upgrade the TLS version of your Power BI application to TLS 1.2, and the announcement that Azure Stream Analytics managed identity authentication to Power BI is now available.

Also marking the 50th edition is my very first blog contribution to the Power BI Weekly newsletter! About time. This week, I've written about Power BI Data Type Mappings, as it can often be confusing knowing how the different data types across the different Power BI mediums correspond to each other. Also from endjin this week - James has continued his blog series about Azure Analysis Services, writing about How to execute a DAX query from .NET.

Elsewhere this week, Daniil Maslyuk has provided a nifty workaround to have the card title in a multi-row card render properly, and Paul Turley has shared a report to monitor COVID-19 Coronavirus Daily Updates.
