The first exciting announcement this week is that Export report to PDF, PPTX and PNG files using Power BI REST API functionality is now in preview. Although there are currently a few limitations, including the fact that the report and dataset must reside on a dedicated capacity (i.e. Premium or Embedded). Learn more about the limitations here. Elsewhere, there have been updates to the Power BI Mobile app - it's now possible to multi-select data on visuals, for example. Finally, in AAS land, there is Improved resource governance for Azure Analysis Services.

Elsewhere this week, Gilbert Quevauvilliers has showcased a Real implementation of Approximate Distinct Count vs DISTINCTCOUNT and has shown it to be 7X faster, Christian Widgren has asked Is Self-Service BI feasible for everyone?, and Bruno Bossaerts has been Benchmarking Off-The-Shelf Sentiment Analysis.
