Power BI Weekly

Issue #359 - 26th May 2026

Only one bit of Microsoft content this week, which is the post on the Fabric Community Blog introducing TOMPo MCP: AI-Powered Lineage Intelligence for Power BI & Microsoft Fabric, a tool that traces the complete data journey from semantic model columns and measures back through your Fabric items. If you've ever spent time manually piecing together lineage, it's worth a look. Elsewhere, Jiří Neoral has written (in Czech, browser translation recommended for non-Czech readers!) a thorough overview of the history of writeback in BI models in Úpravy dat v BI modelech: od SSAS přes Power Apps až po Fabric Planning, covering everything from SSAS Multidimensional through to the new Fabric Planning item. And finally, Justin Martin walks through a clever approach to Agentic Power Query Development, using PQTest to let an LLM write and self-correct Power Query M code without ever touching your PBIX or semantic model.
