Power BI Weekly
Issue #311 - 10th June 2025
The main news from last week is that the Microsoft Fabric Community Conference Comes to Atlanta! from March 16-20, 2026. So no more Vegas (for now), which I'm sure some of you will be pleased with. Anyway, you have 9 months to book your tickets for what promises to be another conference full of new features and platform improvements! But back to the here and now - we've been told about the two new Copilot experiences now available, including the "Chat with your Data" experience (mentioned a few weeks ago) which has been fully rolled out, as well as the new feature whereby you can now get Copilot in Embedded Reports for Portals and Websites - so Copilot can follow your report into your custom application. Finally, we've been told about the SQL Server 2025 preview, which allows us to discover and experiment with What’s New in SQL Server 2025 Analysis Services.
Elsewhere this week, Soheil Bakhshi is back with Part 2 of Sharing Power BI Reports with External Users: Hands-On Guide to Setup and Sharing, stepping through Licensing, Admin settings, report permissions an discoverability. Andrzej Leszkiewicz has written two blogs about default slicer selections, outlining a means to achieve a Date Slicer with Default Selection, as well as covering Row Level Security → Default Slicer Selection, and this week we have Jon Stjernegaard Vöge taking us through the customary Translytical Task Flows use case, writing a Guide: Native Power BI Write-Back in Fabric with Translytical Task Flows (How to build a Comment/Annotation solution for Power BI).
