Power BI Weekly

Issue #30 - 22nd October 2019

Last Monday, we were given the Power BI Desktop October 2019 Feature Summary, filled with numerous exciting updates. My personal favourite is the new "PBIDS" file format, which is a new Desktop file allowing you to initialize data source connections before a user opens a file. Great for prepping beginner Power BI users with the correct data source connection. Last Monday, we were also told about On-premises data gateway management via PowerShell (Public Preview) and, later on in the week, we were told about the new feature allowing us to Refresh our Power BI datasets using Microsoft Flow.

Elsewhere, Justyna Lucznik has joined the GuyInACube channel for the week, describing how to Ask a question with the new Q&A visual in Power BI Desktop, Marco Russo has spoken about Showing the top 5 products and Others row, and Augustin de la Fouchardiere has described how to generate complex organization charts in Power BI (the answer is Visio!)
