Issue #297 - 25th February 2025

This week it's the Power BI February 2025 Feature Summary, which has a handful of cool announcements. There has been significantly Improved modeling performance of the Live edit of semantic models in Direct Lake mode with Power BI Desktop in the latest version of Power BI Desktop (up 50%!), we now have Conditional formatting support for visual calculations in preview, and there have been some much-needed upgrades to Copilot's explainability, with the updated feature How Copilot arrived at this which goes into a little more depth about how it comes to its conclusions.

A handful of content I'd like to share this week: staying on the Copilot theme, Kurt Buhler and Kerry Kolosko have joined Reid Havens to do a deep dive into Demystifying Copilot in Microsoft Fabric (read: Power BI) which is well worth a watch, Chris Webb has shown a workaround to achieve Monthly Power BI Semantic Model Refreshes With Fabric Data Pipelines, Reza Rad has discussed how to manage Multiple Layers of Aggregations in your semantic models, and Rick de Groot has highlighted a quick tip regarding how to Use the Ellipsis Operator to Raise Errors in Power Query M.
