Power BI Weekly

Issue #287 - 3rd December 2024

We've recently been told about the new Core Visuals Vision Board, a great new resource provided by the Core Visuals team to increase the transparency of the features they're working on and what they have planned (and also a great showcase of what a well-designed Power BI report looks like, IMHO). More details can be found on this LinkedIn post by the team, which includes links to the actual Power BI report and provides some helpful content like the Core Visuals Vision Board Walkthrough by Injae Park (and you'll also find equivalent walkthroughs in Spanish and Portuguese).

Elsewhere, we've also received the On-premises data gateway November 2024 release, and there's been a couple of blogs discussing the new Fabric SQL Database offering and how, in conjunction with Power Apps, can still be used as a slick write-back option for Power BI reports (while we wait for the solution I shared in last week's editorial): take a look at Fabric/Power BI Write-Back made easy w. Fabric SQL Databases by Jon Stjernegaard Vöge and Power Apps with Microsoft Fabric SQL Database: Standalone applications or enabling writeback in Power BI by Shabnam Watson.
