Power BI Weekly

Issue #263 - 18th June 2024

This week, we've received the Power BI June 2024 Feature Summary, which announces the introduction of the Power BI enhanced report format (PBIR) for Power BI Project files. This new report format provides source-control friendly file structures and also brings improvements to report development efficiency, enabling batch edits and copying bookmarks between reports. Additionally, there's the release of New INFO functions, Visual calculations support for scatter plots and maps, and the addition of Subfolder support in Power BI Report Builder. It is also now possible to Download large semantic models to Power BI Desktop.

Elsewhere this week, Reid Havens walked through a Different Approach to an Auto-Scaling Date Axis in Power BI, Zoe Douglas demoed the recent Power BI DAX Query View Updates June 2024, and Chandeep Chhabra explained how to Use CONCATENATEX to Create Smart Visuals in Power BI.

On the endjin side this week, my colleague Paul Waller has published a creative walkthrough video, Compelling Data Storytelling with Power BI: Titanic Survivors, exploring the creative journey behind the Titanic Passenger Diagnostic Report, showcased at SQLBits 2024. He provides insights on how to create a visually engaging and informative data story. Well worth a watch!
