Power BI Weekly

Issue #219 - 8th August 2023

No official announcements related to Power BI this week. Chris Webb has shared with us a relatively new Power Query setting that has probably gone under the radar for most of us, and that's the ability to achieve Cross Database Query Folding For SQL Server Sources In Power Query In Power BI And Excel using a new EnableCrossDatabaseFolding option. Elsewhere, Gilbert Quevauvilliers has shown how we can use Tabular Editor's "behind the scenes" functionality to our benefit in the blog Did you know you can use between when creating a New Group in Power BI? and Ted Pattison has presented another Power BI Dev Camp session - this one about Setting Datasource Credentials with the Power BI REST API. Finally, my colleague Barry has continued his technology leader-focused series with a useful comparison in the blog How Does Microsoft Fabric Measure Up To Data Mesh? and I've continued my Microsoft Fabric E2E demo series with the new video: Creating a OneLake Shortcut to ADLS Gen2. Do check these out!
