Power BI Weekly
Issue #138 - 4th January 2022
Welcome to the 138th edition of Power BI Weekly, and the first edition of 2022! Happy New Year to everyone, and I hope those of you who celebrate Christmas had a lovely festive period. Many of us will be glad to see the back of 2021, which, in the outside world, didn't always provide us with the best of circumstances. However, that didn't deter the Power BI team, with a whole load of brilliant features reaching GA throughout the year, including (but not limited to):
- The Read/write XMLA endpoint
- .NET Core support for the Analysis Services libraries
- PPU and autoscale
- External tools in Power BI Desktop
- Object Level Security (OLS)
- DirectQuery over Power BI Dataflows
- Premium Gen2
- Power BI app for Microsoft Teams
with many, many more exciting features arriving in Preview. I won't further rehash content from old newsletters though - if you've recently joined us, I suggest you set aside some time to at least review the editorials from the past newsletters to get caught up on the latest movements in the Power BI ecosystem.
This week's edition is a bit of a bumper edition (given the lack of newsletter last week). The articles to look out for this week include Imke Feldmann's article showing Black Scholes Option (/Derivative) Pricing with Power Query, Bernat Agulló describing Calculation Groups and Conditional Formatting, and Pat Mahoney providing a tip on Nested Visuals in Charticulator.
