Power BI Weekly

Issue #134 - 30th November 2021

There have been a handful of great announcements this week, arguably the most exciting of which being the ability to Create Connected PivotTables in Excel for the web, a hugely sought after request that makes the adoption of Power BI datasets even easier with a fully browser-based experience. Otherwise, we've been told about the new EffectiveUserName support in Power BI Premium, closing one of the last few feature gaps between AAS and Power BI. Capacity settings for datasets are now in Power BI Premium Gen2 to mimic the settings previously available in Gen1, and there is now Power BI integration with Databricks Partner Connect to make it even easier to connect to your Delta tables in Azure Databricks.

Elsewhere this week, there's been a flurry of activity on the official Power BI YouTube channel, with all the content from the Power BI Women Summit being shared, which contains loads of great sessions (from technical to strategic topics) presented by women and allies from the Power BI community. There's also been a new Power BI Developer in a Day course focussing on building an application incorporating Power BI Embedded, aimed at experienced developers tasked with embedded some Power BI reports. Finally this week, Daniel Marsh-Patrick has provided an update about What's Going on with Deneb?, highlighting the progress that's been made with the custom visual over the last 18 months, along with the very exciting announcment that Deneb 1.0.0 is now available in AppSource. Well done Daniel, and thank you for all your efforts!
