Power BI Weekly

Issue #113 - 8th June 2021

A few announcements this week. A lesser known tool has been given a spruce-up, that is the Power BI Windows app, which is a desktop app designed for a consumption experience and provides, for example, an "offline" mode of viewing reports. We've also been told What's new in the June update of Power BI Report Builder, and there is now support for email notifications for non-owners of dataflows, to add to the non-owner table view support added in April.

Elsewhere this week, Alberto Ferrari has discussed an often confusing topic around optimization within DAX, and that's Auto-exist on clusters or numbers. Paul Turley has shared a video (with an accompanying blog) talking to various Power BI colleagues around Designing and Managing Large Datasets, discussing the factors to consider and various options and preferences of how to handle them. Finally, John White has shared some First impressions of the new “Visualize in Power BI” feature for SharePoint Lists, describing the good and the bad for the new feature designed to decrease the time-to-insights for those working with data in SharePoint lists.
